I’m so happy I got to read this second book in the By The Numbers series by Chris Owen and Tory Temple. I adored the first one and was very curious to see how Trey and Deuce were. Ok, I admit I was more interested in what disasters the puppies were making and how much glitter Lacey could use.

Anyway in Adding It Up, Trey and Deuce are living together, they spend time with Q and her two puppies at the doggie park, or with Trey’s daughter, the adorable Lacey. Things seem to be going really great, despite Trey’s work at the firestation and the few hours they can actually be together. Until Trey’s exwife starts to be friendly with Deuce and Trey become suspicious.

I very much enjoyed this second installment, I’m a fan of series whose books have the same MCs couple. I love to be able to see what happens after they get their HEA, to see how they live their real life as partners. And Adding It Up satisfied me. It’s a simple and sweet book, there isn’t drama, just the love of two people trying to find a balance in their new relationship, a delicate one since there’s a child to consider and protect. And no battles with ex wives are allowed.

I feel to recommend the whole series. I hope to get more soon cause these are exactly the books I love to read, stories that can guarantee happy hours and easy smiles.

The cover art by Maria Fanning is lovely but there are too many puppies to truly fit the story. But their cuteness can’t be ignored.

By The Numbers Adding It Up is celebrating its re-release after four long years. I don’t remember why I never read it when it first came out but I was really happy to see it pop up and I knew I had to give it a go and catch up with these two guys and their four-legged friends. This book is the sequel of By the Numbers, where we saw how Trey and Deuce met and got together. I read the first book a long long time ago and I would say this story is enjoyable even if you haven’t read the first part. I would have liked to read more about our MCs sexual power dynamics but there are enough hints that you will feel their chemistry all the same.

I love reading about what happens when most stories end. What happens after the happily ever after, when real life comes crashing down on our wonderful MCs. Adding It Up shows us what happens to Trey and Deuce after they finally settle down together. How much pressure Trey’s job and family obligations put on their relationship and how they can deal with it together.Being a firefighter, working shifts isn’t easy on any partner. Especially one that works full time as well which makes living together a real scheduling magician-act. Add a lovely seven year old and a bitter ex-wife and you see these guys are up for a great challenge.

Life is not easy and no matter how amazing a couple is together there are always issues mostly from outside of the relationship that can and will make life difficult. The writing is great, the problems realistic and very well built and written. Trey and Deuce still have some explosive chemistry but don’t expect too much sex. What we have is perfectly enough and very sensual.

Chance and Tucker (from Cheek to Cheek by Tory Temple) have some guest appearances and it was great to see them again.

This is a good, entertaining read about an established couple with family obligations and some obstacles to work through. Have fun.

This is the second book in the By The Numbers series. I really enjoyed the first book, By the Numbers and if you plan on reading this book, I would suggest that you read the first book. That being said, this book continues with the hectic life of Deuce and Trey. The couple seems to be hitting a few bumps in the road. Most of it stems from Trey’s insecurities and his relationship with his ex-wife, Holly. Deuce is trying to make things better and easier for Trey and Holly to co-parent their adorable, scene-stealing daughter. Trey may prove to be more of the problem than his ex-wife. There is nothing wrong with the chemistry between Trey and Deuce. As in the first book these two could probably start a fire between the sheets. This is a pretty short book with just a little too much doubt for one of my favorite couples. The ending was worth getting there. I really enjoyed these two in the first book. The combination of a geeky programmer, hot firefighter, puppies and an adorable little girl is a pretty good setting. Somehow this second book seemed a little forced.
